Now that spring has finally arrived, the number of dog events is increasing. Here are just a few of the dog events coming up in the next couple of weeks.
Northwest Pet & Companion Fair
Saturday, May 5th, and Sunday, May 6th, 10 am – 6 pm
This is held at the Portland Expo Center. For more information click here. There will be vendors, demos, and more. It costs $8 per adult to get in. The site says you can bring your dog, but it gets a little chaotic. We took Kendall a couple of years ago. We plan to be there as a volunteer for Pet Partners/Delta Society. Maybe we’ll see you there.
Cavalier day at Urban fauna
Sunday, May 6th, 11 am – 1 pm
This event is held the first Sunday of every month at Urban Fauna. If you have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel or have been thinking about getting one, come on down for some Cavalier fun. It’s great to watch the dogs interact, and the people are fun, too. It’s a free event. A paper towel donation is always welcome.
Urban Fauna is located at 939 Southwest 10th Avenue Portland, OR 97205. They moved a couple of months ago from the north park blocks. Their web site still lists the old address, but Google maps gives you the right location. It’s now closer to the south park blocks. We’ll be here, too.
Oregon Humane society’s Doggie Dash 2012
Saturday, May 12th, 7:30 am – 1 pm
This is always a fun event where they close down the streets of Portland and open it up to people and their canine friends. T-shirt pick up and registration runs 7:30 am to 9 am, then participants take off in waves with their furry friends. The festivities run until 1 pm. You do need to register ahead of time. There will be music, a pancake breakfast for the humans, lots of stuff for the kids and dogs to do, and the proceeds go to a great cause.
